About internal glass balustrades
An internal glass balustrade replaces spindles or a solid wall on a staircase, landing or mezzanine with toughened laminated glass, so light and sightlines run through the whole stairwell. Full details on internal glass balustrades.
Internal glass balustrades for Nottinghamshire properties
Much of what we fit in Nottinghamshire goes into Victorian villas on the Park Estate, terraces in Sneinton and 1930s semis in West Bridgford. The survey is where we spot the things that change a price — a sloping floor, a hidden pipe, a wall that needs a lintel — so there are no surprises later. Businesses here come to us as well, particularly offices in Nottingham city centre and around the canal-side business quarter.
Cost and lead time in Nottinghamshire
As a guide, internal glass balustrades typically cost £280–£520 per metre run plus VAT, supplied and fitted, with a minimum job of about £900. Your fixed price comes after the survey. Survey slots across Nottinghamshire (NG, S) are usually available within a week or two, and lead time is around 3–5 weeks from survey.
Building Regulations and safety
Guarding must meet Approved Document K for height and loading. In a house, guarding on stairs, landings and internal floor edges is generally at least 900mm high; in offices and other buildings, landings and mezzanine edges generally need 1100mm. Laminated glass keeps the barrier in place if a pane breaks.
