Double-glazed acoustic partitions
Double-glazed acoustic partitions use two panes of glass separated by an air gap in a slim frame, cutting speech transfer far more than a single-glazed wall. Integral blinds can sit between the panes, away from dust and damage.

What are double-glazed acoustic partitions?
Sound performance depends on the whole build — glass thickness, acoustic interlayers, the cavity, the door and the seals where the partition meets the ceiling and floor. A double-glazed partition with acoustic laminated glass typically reaches Rw 40–48 dB, against roughly 32–37 dB for a single-glazed wall.

Where they work best
We most often fit double-glazed acoustic partitions in directors' offices, HR and interview rooms, boardrooms and consulting rooms. At the survey we'll look at the light, the way the space is used and the structure around the opening, and suggest a layout that works for it.
Building Regulations and safety
Safety glass and manifestation apply as for any office glazing. For a stated sound rating, the ceiling void above may also need a barrier, which we check at survey.
How the job runs
We survey and measure, send a drawing and a fixed written price, then make your glazing to order — lead time is around 4–6 weeks from survey. On the day, floors are protected, the frame or track is fixed, the glass is set and sealed, and the space is cleaned before handover.
Questions about double-glazed acoustic partitions
What Rw rating do I need?
As a rough guide, Rw 38–42 dB suits general private offices and Rw 45 dB or more suits confidential rooms. The door and ceiling are usually the weak points, so we specify those too.
Are integral blinds hard to maintain?
They're sealed inside the cavity, so they stay clean and are protected from damage. They're worked by a magnetic slider or a small handle.
Is double glazing always better than single?
For sound, yes. For an open-plan office where privacy isn't critical, single-glazed partitions cost less and look lighter.
