Where they work best
We most often fit steel-look glazed internal doors in hallway-to-lounge openings, kitchen doors, dining rooms and period homes. At the survey we'll look at the light, the way the space is used and the structure around the opening, and suggest a layout that works for it.
Building Regulations and safety
Glass in doors is a critical location under Approved Document K, so every pane is safety glass. If the door is on a protected escape route, a fire-rated door set may be required.
How the job runs
We survey and measure, send a drawing and a fixed written price, then make your glazing to order — lead time is typically 4–6 weeks from survey. On the day, floors are protected, the frame or track is fixed, the glass is set and sealed, and the space is cleaned before handover.
Questions about steel-look glazed internal doors
Can you fit a double door where I have a single?
Often, if the wall either side allows the opening to be widened. Widening a load-bearing wall needs structural input, and we tell you at survey if it does.
Do glazed doors lose privacy?
Reeded, fluted or satin glass lets light through while blurring the view — a popular choice for hallways and rooms next to bathrooms.
Will my floor need changing?
No. We set the door height to your finished floor, with a threshold or a small gap for air flow as needed.
