Internal windows and borrowed light in Bedfordshire

About internal windows and borrowed light

An internal window is a fixed glazed panel set into an internal wall to borrow daylight from a bright room for a dark one — an inner hallway, a landing, a windowless bathroom or a box room. A glazed fanlight over a door does the same job. Full details on internal windows and borrowed light.

Internal windows and borrowed light for Bedfordshire properties

Much of what we fit in Bedfordshire goes into Victorian terraces in Bedford, 1930s semis in Luton and Dunstable, and new-build estates along the A421 corridor. The survey is where we spot the things that change a price — a sloping floor, a hidden pipe, a wall that needs a lintel — so there are no surprises later. Businesses here come to us as well, particularly business parks near London Luton Airport and offices in Bedford town centre.

Cost and lead time in Bedfordshire

Most internal windows and borrowed light jobs in Bedfordshire fall between £450–£800 per m² plus VAT, fitted. Try the guide-price tool for your size, then book a survey for a fixed quote. Survey slots across Bedfordshire (LU, MK, SG) are usually available within a week or two, and lead time is typically 3–5 weeks from survey.

Building Regulations and safety

Glass within 800mm of the floor must be safety glass. Cutting into a masonry wall may need a lintel and, if the wall is load-bearing, structural calculations; stud walls are usually straightforward.
